8 Tips for Dressing with style:

Select dress that flatters
every woman has a distinct shape and coloring.  Take time to learn what your body type is and what styles of clothing look best on your shape.  Don’t assume what looks good on someone else will naturally look as good on you.  For your best looks dress with your unique body in mind.  Choose well fitting flattering clothes.  Each woman also has a particular complexion and hair coloring.

Smartness Counts
Even if you have beautiful clothes that flatter your face and body if they are not clean and neat you will not come across as elegant.  Before you put something on make sure it is free of stains and that it is wrinkle free.  This tells people that you are competent and that you care about yourself.

Ditch the most recent Trends
it’s important to differentiate between style and trend.  Style, even if it looks dated, will still look good on you when you look back at old photos years from now.  Fads and trends are those things that change every other season and aren’t particularly flattering.  When picking clothes keep them modern but don’t overdo it on fly by night fads.

Describe Your Signature Style
How do you define your signature style?  What image do you want people to think of when they see you?  Country chic?  Soft and feminine?  Creative and artsy?  Bold and beautiful?  Figure out how you would define the look you want people to recognize you for.  Work on refining that look by choosing quality, classy pieces that reflect you individuality.

Dress For the occasion
One of the biggest things that sets an elegant women apart from the crowd is her appropriateness in dress.  An elegant woman takes time to consider the events she is attending and dresses accordingly.  She knows that what should be worn to a backyard BBQ is going to be different than what should be worn to a dinner out with friends.  As a general rule it’s better to be slightly over dressed than underdressed if you aren’t sure exactly what to wear.
Invest sensibly
It is a good idea to invest in a few quality, staple pieces that can be used versatilely.  Invest in things like a good coat, simple jewelry such as pearls or a silver bracelet, a neutral handbag, a pair of nice heels or a simple black dress.  These things are classics and chances are you will get a lot of use out of them.

Choose the Right Accessories
The rules of dress have gotten a bit more lenient over the years. It’s no longer imperative that your shoes are the same color as your purse but it’s still a good idea to consider your accessories.  Making sure that your shoes are the right ones for your outfit and that your purse doesn’t clash will give you an extra touch of class.  And putting on a simple necklace and earrings will immediately give your appearance a more put together, sophisticated look.

Less is More
Accessories are good but don’t overdo it.  And we’ve all seen that lady with gobs of makeup, bulky jewelry and heavy perfume.  Often times less is more when it comes to looking elegant.  Strive for a look that says effortless beauty.
